Partners for Prevention Program
Parent-Child Center's Partners for Prevention (PFP) Program is an intensive, strengths-based, family preservation program which works with at-risk families in the community. The primary purpose of our program is to prevent out-of-home placement, such as foster care, for children through interventions that focus on enhancing parental support and skills. Families are referred to the program through the Department of Children and Families (DCF) because there has been a call to the abuse hotline. Families referred to the program are often in crisis and in need of immediate intervention to decrease family discord, including minimizing the occurrence of child abuse and neglect, and domestic violence, which often make them at-risk for removal from the home.
Program Services
Our PFP team of Family Advocates strive to promote healthy families and foster the well-being of each individual member of the family system. The primary goals of the program are to increase child safety, reduce the risk of out-of-home placement for the children, and enhance family functioning. Family Advocates assist families with obtaining and securing their basic needs; provide parenting and child development education; work on helping families create budgets and manage their monthly finances; and make appropriate community referrals to resources and services. Referrals may include counseling, targeted case management, psychiatric evaluations, domestic violence education, substance abuse, and parenting classes.
Partners for Prevention is a voluntary program established to serve high risk families referred by DCF, at no cost to the family. Partners for Prevention serves families in the geographical target area North of Southern Boulevard to the Martin County Line and West to the Glades.
