Beacon Center at Forest Park Elementary
Healthy Measures
by Terri Ferguson, Beacon Director
Forest Park Beacon has big plans for the month of November and December. With the heightened awareness and concerns over the H1N1/Swine Flu Virus, Forest Park Beacon took the bull by the horns to forge the way for the vaccine to be provided to members of the local Boynton Beach Community at no cost.
The Beacon Center is collaborating with the Department of Health and Forest Park Elementary School to provide 130 individuals with the vaccine on November 25th from 9:30am-2:30pm.
Additionally, prior to the vaccine clinic a one-hour education and information session was held November 4th. The session was designed to provide the most up-to-date factual information to potential candidates for the injection. The majority of those attending the session also registered to attend the November 25th Vaccine Clinic.
Through a pre-registration process the Beacon was able to schedule participants for the clinic in 1-hour segments, designed to reduce wait-time and improve the efficiency of the process.
Both the information session and the vaccine clinic have been met with a positive response. This response resulted in an additional inquiry to the Department of Health for the possibility of an increased number of available vaccines on November 25th.
Preparations are also underway for a second Information/Education session at the City of Boynton Beach library for the month of December. For more information please contact the Beacon Center at 561-292-6921 or 6923.
